I am just getting started on a low carb diet and I just have a quick question. How many carbs a day should I be taking in if I want to lose weight. I am 5'4 and I weigh 153 lbs. I don't look big it's all in my stomach area and no where else. Please help. Thank you!

For the first two weeks, you need to consume no more than 20 grams of carbs a day. This is the induction stage. If you can consume 20 grams a day during this stage, you should loose 5 to 8 lbs. If you walk with it, that weight would surely drop off. Believe me, I am a living witness.

20 grams is right and if you cheat especially the first 2 weeks you'll just have to start all over. I wrote you another note but guess it got lost in cyber space.

I did Adkins several years ago and was loosing really good but finally fell off the wagon because I was going through Milk, yogurt and chocolate with drawels all the time. But thanks to Dr Adkins and his low Carbo milk I am in heaven and have dropped 20 #s in 3 weeks! I'm at work now and don't have allot of time to chat but trust me I can tell you all kinds of secrets. Sugar was my down fall but now with Splenda it has made a world of difference in my choices.

If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me back and don't listen to people especially those who don't have to diet. I've tried them all and am doing really well this time around and trust me I have allot to loose but once you make it past the first 2 weeks and see some weight loss, the rest is all up hill.

HI AM AT MY WITS END. I HAVE TRIED SO MANY DIETS. I AM NOW GOING TO TRY ADKINS. I AM 5'0 AND WEIGH 145. HOW MANY CARBS SHOULD I START OUT WITH. WHAT ARE SOME FOODS TO EAT DURING THE INDUCTION PHASE. ALSO WHAT ARE SOME FOODS TO TOTALLY AVOID?

I am on my 19th day of 30 or less carbs, My start weight was 306lbs and my goal is 220....more important goal is to always keep it off and live a healthier and more active life.....I hope you have been successful with your goal too.
